BARLBY HIGH SCHOOL
Part of Hope Learning Trust
Thank you for visiting our website. We are an 11-16 years school that takes pride in knowing all our students as individuals and allowing them to flourish. As a school, we believe we are small enough to care, and big enough to make a difference.
We aim to ensure that all students feel safe, happy and settled in school. We have a very strong pastoral care team that leads on this work.
Our vision can be summed up with the words “Enjoy. Believe. Achieve.” These key words underpin all the work done in the school daily. Through our sports specialism we challenge everyone to be the best they can be. For Academic Achievement, we were awarded national recognition by the SSAT for being in the top 20% of all schools for pupil progress.
We recognise every student is an individual at Barlby, with different needs and talents. We are committed to ensuring that all learners develop and achieve their potential, preparing them to achieve future success on leaving school. We work on a rewards system based on the seven Olympic and Paralympic Values of:
Olympic values – Friendship, Respect and Excellence – along with the four Paralympic values – Determination, Inspiration, Courage and Equality.
The values underpin the Games as a set of universal principles, but they can be applied to education and our lives, as well as to sport itself. We firmly believe as a school that students should be rewarded for displaying these qualities and we have a certificate and voucher reward system every half term for every year group where students are nominated and this is shared in our Rewards Assemblies.
Barlby High School is committed to the promotion of “impeccable” standards of behaviour at all times so that all students can achieve maximum success. To this end, the school is currently reviewing policies and practices ready for a re-launch in the Autumn Term. However, the school’s current Behaviour policy can be accessed in the school policies section under the ‘Our School’ section of the website
We have excellent facilities for a school our size, particularly in our specialist area of sport, with a new 3G Astro Pitch, Sports Hall, Dance Studio, Gym and Swimming Pool.
No prospectus or website can truly reflect a school. We warmly encourage visits so that the unique ethos and feeling we have here can be experienced first hand.
